Silver Age Sub-Mariner Splash Page Sundays # 45

This week's splash is a lovely piece but seriously, what is it with the too-bright and too-much yellow!!??

Nicely framed and with one of the best close-ups of Namor's face ever that wasn't drawn by his creator, Bill Everett. I wish I could say the portrait was by credited artist Marie Severin but what I see looks like supposed inker Jim Mooney retouched by Jazzy Johnny Romita. Whoever did it, though, I enjoy it immensely.

And the background frames it nicely. There's even an attempt at actually making it look like its underwater, something that sometimes got forgotten.

It's symbolic but actually quite impressive in a sea (pun intended) of hit or miss splashes during the Conway period.

The Silver Age of Marvel and DC were the best years ever!

There has never been a better artist for Superman than Curt Swan!
