Silver Age Sub-Mariner Splash Page Sundays # 25

We open this week with a very nice layout by brand new artist Sal Buscema, brother of John. Namor and Dorma are centered and, in fact, framed by the title. The school of fish at the top left literally takes your eye down into the picture and then up to the nicely lettered title. Those fish, along with the bubbles, waving foliage and distorted background, give a genuine feeling of being underwater. The yellow covering seems to my mind a bit garish but based on the gradation of the creators' names, it almost gives the impression of coming into a lighted area.

Roy continues, naturally, as writer while both Jim Mooney and Mike Esposito (still hiding undercover) are both listed as inkers but this page looks like Mooney's work to me. Sal Buscema will become, at least in my opinion, the definitive Sub-Mariner artist other than his original creator, Bill Everett.
