Seein' Stars by Feg Murray

Thanks to Steve Cottle from http://www.ilovecomixarchive.com  for these two SEEIN' STARS examples from famed sports cartoonist and radio star Feg Murray. This panel featured little celebtity factoids, in this case including radio stars Harold Peary and Kay Kyser!

Haha, these are very interesting. But what kind of a name is Feg, anyway. What do you think it's short for?

I'm putting my money on Fegward.

  2. It's short for Frederic Seymour Murray. He was an Olympic Bronze medalist (1920) who late became a sports cartoonist and also dabbled in the Sunday Funnies, as seen here.

"Feg" is something he appears to have picked up in his cartooning days, as he's mostly referred to as "Fred" in his earlier career as a hurdler. He often drew caricatures of himself as a young boy named "Feggo", so maybe it was actually a childhood nickname.
