Actually, this was his third series, though his first book.
Cap had a strip in Dell's The Funnies #58-63 and Popular Comics #75-78.
He wore traditional flyer's leathers (like the movie serial) rather than the red leather outfit (which was modified into a unitard with glider wings) Fawcett gave him.
