Karloff Article-1968
Here's a lovely article on the great Boris from just 9 months before his passing. Posts have been rare here lately, partly due to the fact that I've been working on a Karloff-related assignment.
Boris's remarks about little Maria's death are interesting, because he previously claimed that he insisted the scene where he put her in the water was removed from the movie (which it was for many years), although it's clear from the restored version that the monster was doing exactly what Boris said he wanted - seeing if the girl would float like the flowers. The fact that she drowns clearly upsets the monster, so Boris's memories of the event would seem to be faulty. (It should also be noted that removing the scene suggested a far worse scenario than what actually happened in regards to the monster's intentions.)
