BRAIN BOY was an early sixties attempt by Dell Comics to cash in on the growing superhero trend. In spite of the Gil Kane artwork, the costumeless "hero" failed to catch on. Perhaps it was due to scenes such as this that were a tad too unexpectedly violent for the readers of the day. Remember, Dell always refused and ignored the Comics Code because, as their slogan said, "Dell Comics are good comics." Thus, this disturbing scene was allowed in with probably no issues whatsoever. With no letter columns either it's hard to say what people thought of it at the time but, as I say, BRAIN BOY? Not a hit.
i love that it says he has a revolver-- it's not a revolver...
