In the 1970s, illustrator Daerick Gross did all sorts of creative work in the Cincinnati area. quite often for THE CINCINNATI POST. That newspaper's archives have just gone online. RIMSHOTS was a sports cartoon panel from 1975 which showcased the artist's Hirschfeld-inspired style. A lot of the topical humor here will likely be lost on those who see it today but oh, that beautiful linework!
I am honored, humbled, and absolutely giddy over this! Thank you, Steve!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've seen or heard of Rimshots - it must have been strictly local, not syndicated. Mr. Gross, this is great work and I actually recognized the caricatures of the 70s sports stars.
