I got to thinking yesterday. Just what is "handsome" to me as a straight male? Not sexy or charismatic or attractive or cute or pretty-boy but just plain handsome. I remember the first time I ever saw Errol Flynn in a movie I thought he was the best-looking man I had ever seen. Still think so. Here, in no particular attempt at order, are some other handsome show biz men I came up with off the top of my head.
Steve Reeves
Fred Williamson
Vincent Price
Eric Clapton
George Clooney
Guy Williams
Richard Roundtree
John Barrowman
Pierce Brosnan
Roger Moore
Ron Ely
Ronald Colman
Michael Dorn
Robert Redford
Robert Brown
Lex Barker
Tyler Perry
Channing Pollack
Okay, those are a few of my ideal of handsome men. Who are some of yours?
You forgot Brad Pitt - he always appears on these "most handsome men ever" lists ! What about Henry Cavill (Man Of Steel), Gordon Scott (50's Tarzan), Channing Tatum, Jude Law, that one from "Arrow" - there must be loads. I think these days quite a few are chosen more for their looks than their acting ability.
ReplyDeleteWhat is handsome? That'd be me, Steve. (Excuse me - it's time for my reality pill!)
ReplyDeleteI can't give you most of those guys, Colin. Maybe Gordon Scott. A lot of the guys--including Brad Pitt--that pass for handsome today are more what I think of as "pretty" or "cute." I guess I see in the definition of "handsome" a certain...maturity maybe?...that the modern folks mostly don't ever seem to reach.
ReplyDeleteOMG, every one of these guys are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget a photo of Jim Brown back in a 1970s Cosmopolitan article--stunning.
As a follow up: IIRC Brown was also a Cosmo pin up in the 1970s. That's not the photo I was referring to in my earlier comment (though he looked great as a pin up too).
