Rochester Lost at Sea-1946


I was listening to a Jack benny radio episode from 1946 and they were talking about Rochester (Eddie Anderson) having been missing and found later lost at sea. It wasn't funny so I thought..."Was this true?" Looked it up and it was! When Rochester finally appeared on that episode, what an ovation he got!

The Year of the Beatles-Maureen Cleave, Part One 1963


Maureen Cleave was already covering the pop scene in England for London's EVENING STANDARD before the Beatles came along. In late 1963, still several months before the Fab Four conquered America, she spent several days with them for this telling and then-unprecedented three-part profile of four still-ridiculously young men who had already been through a lot together and couldn't even imagine what was about to happen to them next. Fred Foy Article-1972


About three decades after this, I played a bad guy opposite Fred Foy in a Lone Ranger re-creation at the Cincinnati Old-Time Radio Convention. My wife and I were pleased to have dinner with Mr. Foy that evening and, ironically, I spent most of our conversation quizzing him about his time on the Cavett show!
